Michael Simon has worked in the Social Services field for over 20 years since graduating from the University of Windsor with B.A in Sociology in 1993. He has worked a Caseworker and then Employment Specialist for the Regional Municipality of York. This experience enabled Michael to gain experience with all aspects of the Ontario Works, with a focus on employment. This experience took him to Wellington County to establish the in house Employment Placement Program and then taking on the role of the role of Employment Services Manager and eventually Ontario Works Manager in 2014. Michael’s passion for helping other to continuously enrich their lives led to him completing his Bachelors of Adult Education with Brick University in 2012 with the goal of furthering his own knowledge and gains an understanding of how to help other adults achieve their full potential.

Michael continues to see the value of education in moving people forward and as a result was named President of the Association for Municipal Employment Services in 2014, a non-profit group specializing in the enhancement of training and networking opportunities for employees in Social Services employment field. A leader in the field of developing and administering employment programs for Ontario Works clients and front line employee. Michael continues to education himself; currently taking Leadership Certificate courses through the University of Waterloo to ensure that he will be able to deal with the challenges presented by changing technology and increased globalization
