AMES and OMSSA Zone Three announces 2 Day Conference for front-line staff working in Children Early Year, Housing and Ontario Works to be held at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel

City of Hamilton – April 8, 2019 – The Association for Municipal Employment Services (AMES) and OMSSA Zone 3 has announced that it will be holding its annual conference “Working Together for a Better Future” on May 13 and 14, 2019, at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel located at 116 King Street West, Hamilton, Ontario.

Located in the “Steel City”, the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel will host the conference which will be attended by front – line social service employees and other employment service providers from across the Province of Ontario who directly administer the Children Services, Housing and Ontario Works programs to clients who require these services to improve their lives and enable them to contribute to their community.  Workshops and seminars offered are designed to focus on hot-topic issues in social services in addition to providing a forum to facilitate information sharing among the attendees and discussion about best practices utilized by member municipalities.

Conference seminars and workshops include:

  • Managing Change
  • Compassion Fatigue,
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
  • Human Trafficking
  • Coaching Clients Towards Employment

The first day of the conference will feature a panel discussion about the ever evolving role of social services and its ongoing role in assisting individuals to improve their lives.  Panelists consist of representatives from Children Services, Housing and Ontario Works.  This panel will be moderated by Bonnie Cobb, Chair of the OMSSA Zone 3.
